WSU Super Match: Portia Perez vs. Mercedes Martinez
Today's POD comes to us courtesy of G.L.O.R.Y. fan Ed Darcey...
This past weekend, WSU presented a five card match that was both a showcase for some up-and-coming young talent and a showcase for some established veterans to remind the younger gals what it takes to be successful in the screwy indy wrestling business!
In the main event, two veterans, one a young vet at that
In a spectacular match that lasted 35 or so minutes, Perez not only held her own against her larger opponent, but on a number of occasions was on the verge of defeating Mercedes. She hit Martinez with the veritable kitchen sink of impact moves...a flying knee to the jaw, a swinging neckbreaker from the second rope, a superkick that caught Mercedes flush in the jaw...not to mention the working-over Perez gave to Martinez's oft injured shoulder!
In the end, after a protracted battle, it was Martinez's experience and savvy that won her the bout when she reversed a pin attempt, hooked Portia's legs and held her down for the three count. Afterwards both women were exhausted but had won a large measure of respect from one another and the admiration of a most appreciative crowd. No doubt we shall see them in action against one another again.
