April In December?
No...we're not already looking forward to Spring before we've even gotten to Christmas yet (although with the bitter cold weather we've been experiencing in the middle and northeastern areas of the U.S., a warm April day sounds pretty nice!). The April we're talking about is Miss April...as in Miss April vs. Lea Morrison at last month's WSU event in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
The shot above gives you an idea about how determined (and rough!) Miss April was in wanting to win this match. A stomp to the skull doesn't sound like something we've recently read in the "What's Legal" chapter of the pro wrestling rulebook. But let's give Miss April a pass this time. The well-respected rookie usually sticks to fighting fair. We think she just may have lost her cool for a moment during this match. Of course, her opponent might not share our feelings about giving April a pass! But the remainder of the match found these two up-and-coming young mat stars engaging in technical, yet very tough, wrestling action. After the stomp to the head, April doubled Morrison's pain with a flying dropkick that sent TWO boots into the face of the seated brunette (below). A quick pin attempt got April close to victory, but her opponent kicked out.
But don't think that this match was all Miss April. Lea Morrison got in her share of offense. A flying cross-body leveled the smaller April later in the match. And further damage was done by Ms. Morrison when she nailed her opponent with a picture-perfect swinging neckbreaker that nearly tore April's head off her body!
At the sound of the bell it was Miss April who came away with the victory. But the fans in attendance were the real winners of this match as they witnessed some great competition between two future stars of the sport!
