More From WSU
Ed Darcey picks up where he left off yesterday as he brings us yet another great match from last Saturday's WSU event in Union City, New Jersey...
While Mercedes Martinez cemented her hold on the WSU title after her brutal bout with Rain, she may only have a tenuous hold on the Championship. As is standard, considering WSU's stated mission of both showcasing newer talent and giving more veteran competitors a place to ply their trade, the promotion debuted another well known name, a woman who recently parted ways with WWE, Serena.
The former member of the Straight Edge Society was openly contemptuous of most of the WSU competitors, feeling that by dint of who she was she should have automatically been a title contender. Well that's not the way WSU does business. You have to earn your way up the ladder. She was matched up against a veteran with a proven track record and who is no stranger to the national spotlight, former TNA Knockout Traci Brooks.
While, as one would suspect, Serena was more than willing to break the rules to gain any advantage, she had her hands full with Ms. Brooks who time and again rocked the former WWE star with clotheslines, arm drags and the like. After a jawbreaker seemingly had Serena in trouble, who should saunter out from the locker room but Amber of the Boston Shore. Having had a number of run-ins with the New Englander before, including a contretemps at an earlier show when she tagged with April Hunter, Ms. Brooks was distracted long enough for Serena to hit her with a spear and pick up the win. A furious Traci would demand satisfaction from Amber and was granted that opportunity on the second DVD taping.
