Loving The L-O-N-G Sleeperhold
No sooner did we post yesterday's G.L.O.R.Y. POD featuring last month's WSU match between G.L.O.R.Y. Girls Angel Williams and Portia Perez...the emails started coming in from the sleeperhold fans. Paraphrasing what most of them said, it pretty much boiled down to this...
"Hey! What gives? You talked about the long sleeper in the Portia vs. Angelina match but you didn't show any pictures from it! We want to see the sleeperhold!"
Okay, okay! For all you sleeperhold fans, here's what you've been clamoring for: Angel's prolonged and persistent sleeper applied to Ms. Portia Perez. As you can see, once Williams clamped it on she kept it locked in for a long, long time. Starting on their feet, Angel worked the sleeper as Portia slumped down to a sitting position and then crumbled to the mat on her stomach. Even after Perez was able to marshall all her strength and willpower to regain her footing, Angel refused to break the hold...even climbing onto Portia's back to heap every last moment of sleeper time upon her enemy.
Eventually, Perez managed to break free from the grinding hold by ramming Angel back into the corner turnbuckles. But the damage was already done. While the sleeper itself may not have scored the victory for Williams, the hold sapped enough of Portia's strength to prevent a comeback by the pigtailed grappler.
