WWE Rivals Become WSU Rivals
Ed Darcey continues his reporting (and photographing) of last Saturday's fantastic WSU event from Union City, New Jersey. Today, Ed brings us the Krissy Vain vs. Jillian Hall battle...
As was noted yesterday, there were a number of women on the recent WSU show with experience with one or the other of the two major TV wrestling promotions. Two of the blondest, lol, were wrestlers with a WWE connection. Kristin Astara, also known as G.L.O.R.Y. Girl Krissy Vaine, who worked for WWE developmental and briefly for the big show before deciding the WWE lifestyle was not for her, and the recently released Jillian Hall (a.k.a. G.L.O.R.Y. Girl Macaela Mercedes) who had a lengthy run with the parent company.
Having known each other from their WWE days, Kristin cordially welcomed Jillian to WSU. Ms. Hall seemed to appreciate the welcome, but when Astara turned her back to go to a neutral corner, Jillian attacked Kristin, sending her crashing to the mat. The gloves were off now, and the gals went after each other with no holds barred.
The two women beat on each other for some time, the advantage shifting back and forth. Finally, Hall hoisted Astara on her shoulders and administered a devastating rear Samoan Drop, stunning Kristin. However, Astara was just able to avoid the pin. Frustrated, Hall tried again and while spinning her opponent around draped across her shoulders, the two women made heavy contact with the ref, knocking him to the mat stunned. While Jillian went to check on the referee, a groggy Kristin proved that while she may have been knocked woozy she still had enough presence of mind to try some chicanery. She unlaced her boot and when Hall turned back around, attempted to hit Jillian with it. Hall ducked, and Astara was now off balance, physically but not mentally. Realizing her ploy had not worked she tried a different tack. She now threw the boot to the mat and dropped to her back clutching her head as if she been felled by a blow from the boot. The ref, who had just gotten his bearings, turned to see Astara holding her head and pointing at the boot and Hall. He assumed that Jillian had perpetrated a foul and awarded the match to Kristin. A now very angry Hall grabbed the boot and went after Astara but Kristin beat a hasty retreat to the locker room. While it certainly wasn't the cleanest victory of the night it was assuredly the craftiest.
